Chelsea football club has seen numerous managers come and go. While some have won trophies, others have had to face the harsh news of being sacked by the club. But there are two managers in particular, who have created an everlasting memory at the club, even though only one has given them the kind of triumphant glory that they wanted.

So without beating around the bush, let’s get into the main topic of the hour as we are set for a Sunday Premier League clash between Thomas Tuchel’s Blues and Antonio Conte’s Spurs.

Matchday 23 of 38

Following the games between Manchester United vs West Ham, it’s time for us to enter Stamford Bridge and see what Antonio Conte has in store for his side’s trip against Tuchel. As the former and current Chelsea managers get set to face each other, there will be a lot forming the talking points at Stamford Bridge, including the kind of reception that Conte will receive.

So let’s dig right into the biggest fixture of Sunday.

Date and Venue

The game between Chelsea and Tottenham are set to be played on the 23rd of January at Stamford Bridge.

A familiar ground for Conte

Antonio Conte is aware of all that the grounds of Stamford Bridge have tasted owing to his years at the club. However, time changes things and this visit to Stamford Bridge could be one of the biggest tests that he has faced as a Spurs manager. While they have played against Liverpool and Arsenal. Tuchel’s blues have an upper hand in some form or the other.

This takes us back to the kind of tricks that Conte needs to bring on board. Will it be his defensive formation that takes Chelsea by surprise or will it be an in-form Harry Kane that finally shows the league what he is capable of achieving? All these questions could only be answered when a 90-minute Premier League action finally kicks off.

Tuchel is slowly getting hold of Chelsea

Following Lukaku’s interview, Covid-19 related issues, injuries and the forgotten title race, Tuchel is finally getting hold of Chelsea. A breath of fresh air seems to have emerged at Stamford as the club aims to settle scores with the rest of the teams in order to retain their position within the top four.

While it was never in doubt, a successive run of draws did make some question about what exactly will be the outcome if Chelsea ends up in a position outside the top four. After their chaotic clash against City, Tuchel has to quickly turn towards a home game where victory is all that the Blues would want.

A tough fixture indeed

A clash between Chelsea and Tottenham has never sounded so exciting mainly due to the type of system that both clubs have relied on. While Chelsea has always managed to find some success or the other, Tottenham was out of the mix due to unsuccessful attempts by managers who could not carry the club forward.

However, Spurs are back with a squad that is slowly getting adapted into a system that Conte has successfully implemented. Whether or not it would go the distance is a question for the future. But come Sunday and you are going to see an improved Spurs team causing all sorts of trouble to Tuchel and his peace of mind.

The stronger defence

Considering the fact that both teams are well equipped with attack, it’s time to move behind the midfield and look at the defensive capabilities of both squads. While Conte has improved a goal-conceding defence at Spurs, Tuchel might be the one better equipped with resources.

Despite lacking the defensive and attacking powers of Reece James, Chelsea was able to put on a show against Liverpool. With every defender of theirs coming in to form a unique partnership, you will not be forgiven to believe that they have the better defence in store.

With their midfield operating well under N’Golo Kante, Chelsea could take advantage of all the resources that they have and form a game that could take every other fixture or every other game, including the ones where you have been confident with football betting, by surprise.

Chelsea vs Tottenham: Head-to-head

Chelsea’s games against Tottenham have not been as exciting as you would expect a game between Tuchel and Conte to be. However, considering the dominant years of Chelsea, it does make sense to see that out of 59 games between these two clubs, Chelsea has managed to take 32 wins. On the whole, there have also been 20 draws.
