Jurgen Klopp in the past has delivered a hammering to struggling clubs, who went on to fire their managers. Leeds United, who last won a Premier League game in August, sets up the perfect scenario for Jurgen Klopp and team to deliver a hammering.

However, Liverpool have also shown a little slump in form which reminds us of their loss against Nottingham Forest. But this is Anfield, the place where their fans are the loudest and the place where Van Dijk has a stone cold record to keep.

Can Leeds United get anything out of this game? Or will the predicted result of a Liverpool hammering convince their board to look for another manager? Although we aren’t experts to make predictions, let’s go through a detailed preview and learn more about this exciting game.

The 14th one with 38 in sight

Premier League weekends have rarely been disappointing. They bring in the right number of games, push us towards the limit of excitement and then convince us that there shouldn’t be a limit for excitement.

It is the complete package and this weekend is not going to be any different. Apart from Liverpool and Leeds, we also have Leicester City and Manchester City, where Guardiola is expected to take three points as usual and Brighton vs Chelsea, where Potter makes a comeback most probably to annoy his previous fan base.

We also have an iconic game in Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest, where the latter might not be able to hold itself against the league's table toppers. Apart from all that, we also have West Ham vs Manchester United, which is sure to be full of fun and excitement.

Hence, it's a jam-packed weekend. So cancel your plans and get ready for English football.

When and where is this fixture taking place?

Since Liverpool will be the ones welcoming Leeds, this fixture is set to take place at Anfield on the 30th of October, 2022.

Will Marsch be sacked, courtesy of Klopp?

While there are problems at Anfield, one cannot ignore the situation at Elland Road. Klopp’s problems lie within the Premier League because they have turned out to be a team that wins games against teams like Manchester City and surprisingly loses games against Nottingham Forest.

While they seem to have gained some form in the Champions League, their Premier League story is quite different. However, with Anfield behind them, Liverpool have all that they need to win games against teams like Leeds United.

Klopp’s attacking talents are back in the frey and if their defence is set up, they can continue being a little dominant. However, their defensive issues aren’t going to be a problem against a team that has forgotten how to score.

That’s right, Leeds United seem to be lacking a recognised striker and that is affecting their goal scoring patterns. While Bamford is still searching for his 100th goal, Rodrigo is searching for form and the rest aren’t ready for the league. So the problems at Leeds begin with a striker and also go ahead to the main tactics that Marsch needs to employ.

While keeping Leeds in the league was a huge deal, the American can’t seem to be getting the best out of them for the remainder of the current season. And if things go horribly wrong at Anfield, the board might be pushed to act swiftly. Avoiding a scenario like last season will always be in the back of their minds.

Due to that, there’s more pressure on Marsch than any other manager in the league because it is his job that could be on the line. Moreover, Leeds, in the past, have failed to prevent the attacking quality of Liverpool. If the Reds came in charge with their wide wingbacks, the Yorkshire club could be in trouble unless they find a way to stop it.

Klopp, on the other hand, has a few problems of his own. While he is managing the team that nearly created history last season, currently, they seem to be lacking a lot. The Reds haven’t been consistent and at times, seem puzzled.

While their tactics seem to work, their play is not contributing goals and that is affecting them. Back at Forest, the Reds tried all methods but couldn’t get past Dean Henderson. The former United keeper held his ground and ensured that his team won the game fair and square.

If that were to happen with Leeds, Klopp will begin to feel a different kind of pressure. One that Marsch could relate to. But in all likelihood, this seems like a Liverpool game. One where they can score a lot of goals and capitalise the feeling at Anfield.

Moreover, Leeds also seem to be going through a small injury crisis that has taken out Tyler Adams, one half of their midfield and Rodrigo, their top goal scorer. Hence, the Reds could be having some fun at Anfield where one of their historic rivals comes calling.

Liverpool vs Leeds United: Head-to-head

Liverpool and Leeds have played 28 games in the top flight of English football. These are two teams with history but different from each other at the moment. While both have had their ups and downs, Leeds have had it differently.

They used to be a team playing in the Champions League but then went on to be a team that even entered League One. It was a fatal fall and thanks to Marceolo Beilsa, they came back up to the Premier League after a gap of 16 years.

Their stay in the league has brought in victories and defeats but if you were to add Liverpool as their opponent, you will mostly see defeats.

Total Wins 176
Home Wins 103
Away Wins 73

As you can see, Liverpool have been the dominant force in this fixture as they have won 17 games compared to 6. Moreover, the 6 games that Leeds have won came before 2004 which highlights their past more than it does of Liverpool.

Out of the 28 games that these teams have played only 5 have been draws. Moreover, Leeds have a horrible away record this season which only adds to their troubles. So the pressure on the club is immense and it seems unlikely they will come out of this fixture with three points.

Considering the pressure that they are in and how the league is transforming, Marsch has a lot to do before the board does what any other board will do at this stage.

Liverpool - Home

7 home games have been played at Anfield. And if you were to judge them and talk about a title charge, you would surely say that Liverpool are out of the race. Apart from their lavish 9-nil win against Bournemouth and 1-nil win against Manchester City, they don’t have much to showcase.

A team like Liverpool drawing at home to Palace and Brighton is unacceptable. However, their win against City did cheer their fans and remind them of the team from last season.

If they manage to get more points on the board, a top four finish could be on the cards and they can continue contesting in the Champions League. However, they need to be consistent in their approach regardless of how exciting Jurgen Klopp football could be.

But for now, the focus will be on Leeds, who would have wished for this fixture to never take place.

Leeds United - Away from home

Leeds United have played a total of five games away from home. And as you can see from the table below, they have won none of them. While they took the lead against Southampton, they went on to concede two goals and ended up settling for a point.

At Brighton, Marsch had no reply for a Potter led team that took all their attacking powers and splashed it all against Leeds. Brentford was a whole different story because as the scoreline suggests, Leeds had a day to forget. Palace saw Leeds play a comfortable first half only to go down in the second half.

Their story at Leicester was a sad one and it’s better for fans to not to hear about it.

Hence the script so far isn’t a good one because there are a lot of potholes, a lot of gaps and the missing element of a structure known as a lethal striker. While they have defensively improved, they seem to lack crucial ideas at different stages of the game.

For example, against Fulham, Leeds kept venturing to the left in order to find Sinisterra because they couldn’t create chances from elsewhere. While Sinisterra is in form, he might not be able to play this game due to a knock that he received in the previous game.

Hence, the road to Anfield is not a good one for Leeds. However, the league has to go on and if they can find a gap, they better take it.

Results from the previous season

Leeds United would want to forget last season. Marcelo Bielsa, one of their greatest managers, was sacked and they had to fight for survival. Marsch had to come in and rescue the team. They survived relegation on the final day of the campaign which also means their record against the big six wasn’t great.

On the other hand, Liverpool had a wonderful start to the campaign and went on to be unbeaten for almost most of the season. However, things didn’t end the way that they had hoped for. Hence, they started this season with the hope of getting it all back and we all know how that has gone so far.

Leeds United vs Liverpool (0-3)

12th September 2021

The first game between these teams was at Elland Road. Bielsa was still the coach and he had to witness his tactics crumble down like a pack of cards. Since Leeds were all over the place, they left so many gaps which Liverpool noticed and capitalised.

Goals from Salah, Fabinho and Mane added 3 to the board and that was enough to seal the game. Salah was judged the man of the match, an award that we are yet to see him receive this season.

Liverpool vs Leeds United (6-0)

24th February 2022

The last time Leeds entered Anfield, they let Liverpool score 6 goals. It was an easy affair for the Reds and it was one of the final games were Leeds fans would see Bielsa on the touchline.

It was raining goals as Liverpool kept coming again and again. While Matip started the process, it moved forward and included the likes of Salah, Mane and Van Dijk. By the end, Leeds conceded 6 goals and once again Salah was the man of the match.

Not only did he score two goals from the spot but also provided an assist to Matip. It was more or less one of the final nails in the coffin for Bielsa. However, the famous Argentinian did not lose his legendary status at Elland Road and may never will.

The one that you have to see

If we were to pick one player that you have to see, it would be Darwin Nunez. Ever since he arrived in the Premier League, there have been a lot of expectations, especially with comparisons against Haaland and whatnot.

While his start was slow, he has managed to pick up the pace and in this game, he has all the potential to shine. Nunez can get past the centre backs and score goals with pace and work rate being by his side.

So the player that you need to watch out for in Liverpool vs Leeds United would be Darwin Nunez.
